Our Audiologists perform comprehensive hearing evaluations for individuals of all ages. Our goal is for our clients and their families to understand their hearing loss and options for treatment. Learn more about what happens during our adult, pediatric, and infant hearing evaluations.

We encourage you to bring a trusted friend or family member with you when you get your hearing tested.  We want to help you with any hearing or communication challenges so it is helpful to bring someone with whom you communicate regularly.

Our Audiologists will help you find the appropriate hearing aids for your hearing needs, lifestyle and budget

The initial appointment, typically a hearing evaluation, is scheduled for an hour. During this appointment, you will have the opportunity to discuss your hearing concerns and the results of your hearing test. If hearing aids are recommended, your options will be discussed. If you decide pursue a trial with hearing aids, you will see the audiologist for regular appointments as you adjust to your hearing aids.

Some insurance companies will cover evaluations and hearing aids; however, each plan is different and many have copays and/or deductibles. Check your insurance policy and bring that information with you to your appointment. Most policies require a physician’s referral. Northeast Hearing and Speech also works with community and state/federal programs that may be funding sources for evaluations and therapy. We are contracted providers for Child Development Services, the State of Maine’s early intervention system responsible for providing children aged birth to five years with support and intervention services.  We also work with Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Disability Rights of Maine. Once we have determined that you have a need, we will do our best to help you find alternative funding sources.

Have a question we didn’t answer? Please feel free to contact us today. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your appointment.
